Matthew Maddox
President
Maddox is a skilled visual storyteller. With creative origins in illustration, he’s never been afraid to create exactly what he needs when something doesn’t already exist. -
Jon Simons
Creative Director
Jon Simons is a St. Louis–based designer working across branding, video, 3D, illustration, and immersive technology. He earned his BFA from Missouri State University, where Russian and Polish poster designers helped shape his creative approach. His work combines a strong design foundation with an experimental spirit, exploring new ways to bring ideas to life. Outside the studio, he’s a proud girl dad who enjoys creating posters for local events and exploring the city by bike. -
Roderick Whetstone
Education Chair
I live in St. Louis, Missouri. Currently I am an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. I teach in the Department of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in Edwardsville, Illinois. I earned a MA and a MFA in Graphic Design from The University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. -
Dan Rayfield
Design Show Chair
Dan Rayfield is the Co-Founder and Design Director of Grown, a creative agency based in South St. Louis City. Dan believes new and fresh challenges are what make a career in design fulfilling. Throughout his career, he’s continuously evolved his aesthetic and skillset, working across diverse mediums, including print, web, advertising, branding, experiential design and XR. At Grown, you’ll find him launching new products and brands for clients in higher ed, hospitality and the startup community.

Vice President

The president’s right-hand. Ideally the yin to the president’s yang, the VP has an opposing but complementary viewpoint and skill set. The VP is more hands-on executor than high-level thought thinker, and succeeds the president at the end of their term. -
Communications Director
(voting member)
The Communications Director is a human megaphone. You’re responsible for all comms strategy for our events, social media, news, and website. These communications should make local designers want to join our ranks, come to our stuff, stay in Saint Louis, and maybe even give us money. In this position, you get to develop a voice for AIGA Saint Louis that may be less flippant than this one. -
Programming Chair

The Programming Chair is a party person. These parties can occur in all kinds of formats and at any time of day, so long as they’re consistent with AIGA’s mission and meet the needs of our chapter members. This position is responsible for the annual calendar and works closely with the Event Chairs to secure speakers, sponsors, venues, and, most importantly, attendees. If you love to host, this one’s for you. -
Sponsorship Chair
Nurturing relationships with local businesses and institutions with the goal of funding AIGA STL's efforts to give back to the creative community through events and education to help local design professionals thrive.

Education Director

The Education Director is our bridge to the next generation of designers and AIGA STL. This role connects students, educators, and the broader Saint Louis design community, helping create more opportunities for everyone to learn from—and get to know—one another. You’ll build relationships with local schools and Student Group Faculty Advisors, encourage student and faculty participation in AIGA Saint Louis. If you’re passionate about design education, making connections, and helping emerging creatives find their place in the community, class is officially in session. -
Membership Director

The Membership Director is a master networker. This Board position is all about recruiting members and potential members while simultaneously serving as a hype person for the design profession as a whole. A huge booster of the Saint Louis creative scene, the Membership Director is also responsible for promoting and growing our local chapter. -
Student Conference Chair
Assist in leading another annual time-honored AIGA STL tradition that provides insight, preparation, connection and continued education to our area's students and young professionals.

Chapter Manager
The perfect role for the persnickety. The Chapter Manager keeps everyone else in line and makes sure they’re fully informed. If you like making lists, reviewing budgets, enacting policy, following rules and making sure other people do, too — this job’s for you.

Partnership & Sponsorship Chair
This Chair plays well with others. The Partnership and Sponsorship Chair buddies up with representatives from adjacent fields to secure cash or in-kind support for our Chapter events. You’ll work closely with the Programming Chair to court relevant sponsors for our events and activities and hopefully charm people into giving us money. For the love of design!

Web & Interactive Chair
The Website & Interactive Chair makes sure our website reflects our abilities. After all, graphic design is our passion. You’ll work with the national office to host our local site, and make sure every board member’s information is included artfully.

Social Media Chair
The social media chair is responsible for going viral. (Just kidding.) In this role, you’ll support our overall comms strategy across Instagram, Facebook, and Threads.

Treasurer
The Treasurer is our resident numbers person. This role keeps the Chapter’s finances organized, accounted for, and on the up-and-up. You’ll oversee annual budgets, work closely with our bookkeeper to make sure accounts and paperwork are current, and help manage annual tax and legal requirements. You’ll also work with fellow board members to build realistic event budgets, keep an eye on spending, and review the numbers afterward to see how things shook out. If spreadsheets, responsible spending, and making sure everything adds up are your thing, we’ve got a balance sheet with your name on it.
